Boston Consulting Group Plans a Move into a New Building in the Boston Office Market
An important member of the Boston office market has announced that it is joining GE, Fidelity Investments, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and others by moving to the Seaport in a new facility built to meet their ever changing needs. The Boston Consulting Group which serves a global customer base, currently has two Boston area offices, and will join them when they move into a new 13-story office building. The new building is located in Tishman Speyer’s Pier 4 Development and Boston Consulting Group plans to be moved in by June, 2018.
The newest building in the Boston office market is 370,000 square feet, of which 202,000 square feet will serve the 700 employees who work for the Boston Consulting Group in various capacities. The new facility will have seven of the 13 stories dedicated to the company’s work load. A spokesman for the company said that in addition to joining what was once two separate locations into one, the new facility will also allow employees great views of the harbor, and it will provide modern workspaces that should be an asset in attracting top employees to the business.
Among amenities– in addition to the view–, the Pier 4 location will also have retail space, a rooftop garden, a fitness center for employees, storage for bicycle commuters, and three levels of parking. The construction of the offices will also be eco-friendly.
The current offices of Boston Consulting Group are in two different locations downtown which combined are 146,000 square feet of space. The business has been at Exchange place for over three decades, and at One Beacon for just under 10 years. The relocation and consolidation in the Boston office market are a sign of how work processes for the company have changed, and the importance of collaboration and working together on projects for customers.
Technology has generally been a great addition to Boston Consulting Group, and the best way to take advantage of these innovations is to share the same physical space. The new location at Pier 4 will give the company that opportunity—an opportunity that they are looking forward to taking advantage of beginning about one year from now.
